The need to add value to agro produce in order to enhance the shelf life and maximize output is very imperative. Manual processing of cassava tubers to Garri does not yield enough throughputs. This is why the unit operations are mechanized in order to give high yield of the end product. Cassava peeler, Graters, hydraulic press, rotary sieve and communal fryer are designed and built by PRODA in order to achieve the required yield of the end product.

Red palm oil is one of the most consumed edible oil in Nigeria and the demand increase tremendously. The demand for quality red palm oil that will meet world standard derived PRODA into mechanization of palm fruit processing line. SKILL ACQUISITION ON BAR SOAP, LIQUID SOAP AND DETERGENT PRODUCTION FOR COTTAGE INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

Introduction to the Programme

The focus of the present Federal government is to encourage local capacity/content for a wide range of products including paints and chemicals. The Materials and Energy Technology Department of the Projects Development Institute (PRODA) among other things is engaged in raw materials research and development of local raw materials for bio-fuels and energy materials research and the production of paints and various chemicals for household, agricultural and construction use. The department is engaged in quality assessment of finished products through its consultancy services. It has competencies in such analysis as drinking and waste water testing analysis, metals analysis proximate analysis of food and fuel materials, oil quality characterization, photochemical analysis of medicinal plants. It has provided entrepreneurial guidance for medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) and availed research students of its critical infrastructure for the conducting of researches at all levels and engaged students on industrial training and excursions. The department also has the required human resources for scientific equipment training on a wide range of equipment.

EQUIPMENT FOR CERAMICS WARES PRODUCTION

Problem Statement

The demand for locally production of ceramics wares in Nigeria is high as the country is diversifying their economy towards industrialization. Manual method of production does not yield enough throughputs. Hence, each unit operations in ceramic ware production are mechanized by PRODA in order to have higher yield of the end product. Crusher, blunger, ball mill, pug mill mould, jigger/jolly machine, electric kiln, hydraulic press and vibratory sieve are designed and built by PRODA in order to achieve the required results.
